Candle light and silk make me feel warmth, softness, fluidity, comfort…
This candle image and the silk image in the preceding post were to be part of a still life setup for a painting. As is sometimes the case, the still life never seemed to actually work out even after dozens of photos and attempts at rearranging the elements and lighting, it was clear that this was not the day for this particular idea to take form. But unhappy results often lead to success in unexpected form… Suddenly i could feel the magic of the silk for it’s individual beauty, then the candle began to glow in it’s own essence and melted a tear drop to lure me into it’s potential as an individual subject.
Now instead of one new still life, i have two new portraits to add to my series of Shanti (Inner Peace) paintings. I’ll be working on these in the coming months as soon as i finish my current painting, Illumination. Visit CherieShanti.com (link is on sidebar) to see all paintings in this series.
At the core of the creative process
there is a living force of will power and energy,
– just be open to the possibilities, then surrender.
