Clouds hanging low
weaving a tapestry of time
melding history and mystery
present and past
into the mist
of an ever evolving story…
The Allerton Hotel opened in 1924 and was designated a Chicago landmark in 1998.
The sign at the top of the building announces the Tip Top Tap, a top floor lounge that was popular during the 1940s and 1950s and closed in 1961.
Today this historic hotel is still in use and is surrounded by modern buildings, blending a landscape of old and new.
